Pharmacy Protection Fund

Pharmacy Protection Fund

Dear IPhA Members, Pharmacy Owners, and Esteemed Colleagues,

HB1697, the Prescription Drug Affordability Act, has passed the Illinois General Assembly.  This is a historic victory; one that affirms the power of unified advocacy and the strength of our profession.  After years of fighting, Illinois pharmacists have finally turned the tide on abusive PBM practices that have drained resources from our pharmacies and harmed our patients.

This victory belongs to all of us.  But while we celebrate, we must also prepare for what comes next.

HB1697 is not yet law.  The Governor must still sign it. Implementation will be complex. Enforcement will face resistance.  And make no mistake PBMs and their allies are already working to undermine this progress.

That is why we need the Pharmacy Protection Fund now more than ever.

This Fund is how IPhA continues the fight.  It provides the resources to defend HB1697, support rulemaking and ensure that this legislation delivers real results for our profession and for our patients.  It also positions us to push back when new threats arise and they will.

We are asking every pharmacy and every pharmacist to stand with us.  A contribution to the Pharmacy Protection Fund is not a gesture.  It is a commitment to the future of pharmacy in Illinois.  Your support enables IPhA to keep leading, keep organizing, and keep pushing forward.

We respectfully ask for a donation of $2,500 per store or $365 per individual.  We recognize the ask is significant, but the stakes are higher.  If possible, please consider writing a check for amounts over $1,000 to help us minimize credit card fees and maximize your impact.

This is not the end of the fight.  It is a turning point and we cannot afford to lose our momentum.

Let’s defend what we’ve built.  Let’s finish what we’ve started.  Let’s ensure that HB1697 becomes more than a bill.  It becomes the beginning of a new era for pharmacy in Illinois.

In unity and determination,

Garth K. Reynolds, BSPharm, RPh, MBA, FAPhA
