First off, I want to say that the annual conference this year was amazing and it was liberating, invigorating and exciting to meet so many of you there in my neck of the woods in Saint Louis. I am so humbled by the accolades I received and hope to push for pharmacy even harder for next year in Lombard!

I want to use this post and thread to highlight some exciting things that came about from this conference and I hope you can do the same here:

1. I can't pass up mentioning the conference without also mentioning the launch of a special initiative of mine: the Illinois Community Pharmacy Enhanced Network (I-CPEN). Everyone who was on the committee to help develop it over the summer put in a lot of hard work to get us to not only have a booth at the exhibit hall but also be able to present in front of fellow members to increase interest and get people on board. In case you haven't heard of it, the I-CPEN is related to the Community Pharmacy Enhanced Service Networks (CPESN[SM]) USA where we intend to create a clinically integrated network of pharkacies who aim to provide services that enhance the outcomes of the patients in our communities. Ultimately, it is VERY helpful for independent and ambulatory practices because it helps bolster STAR ratings, but later down the road, this may be an opportunity to help shine a bigger light on pharmacists as providers of healthcare and potentially get us reimbursed for our services sooner rather than much later. There's a lot of movement over the next 6 months in this initiative, so I'll keep you posted about this later.

2. I'm so proud of my alma mater. Including the award I received as Distinguished Young Pharmacist, Dr. Miranda Wilhelm won Educator of the Year and our incoming IPhA President - also faculty member of SIUE - won multiple awards! And did I mention she's our INCOMING PRESIDENT? On top of that, I met so many Alumni and current students that by far we were the most populous group at the conference. I still have that image at the President's Gala where we were taking pictures at the end and we were getting all the SIUE students together and it was a MASS of bodies marching to the front. I'm really proud of you guys supporting the Association as well as representing our School. You guys rock!

3. I met SO MANY people from around the state and talked about so many great topics that will help advance Pharmacy in IL. I can't stress enough how important it is to not only be a member of the Association but how critical it is to attend this meeting every year. You not only get those "Pharmacy Juices" flowing and get excited about the practice after a year of it slowly being drained at work, but when you realize your time at your job is not the best use of your time, METWORKING IS KEY, and no one event is more important for networking than at the annual conference. My sister got her job the last time we had an IPHA/MPA conference in STL. So many of my friends have had advancements in their careers because of annual conference. I talked with so many fellow alums who are tired of working major retail and wondered how they can find a way out. You know what I told them? NETWORK. You have SO many opportunities at the conference to just randomly walk up to someone and say, "Hey, I'm looking for an opportunity in your field; who do I need to talk to to find out more information?" And THEY WILL TELL YOU. People who attend conference WANT you to succeed. And that one alum who I spoke to at the SIUE reception? He didn't realize that the one pharmacist his grandparents know is a real big wig in IL pharmacy. I hope he was able to connect with him. :)

Overall, I really enjoyed my time at Annual this year and can't wait to see what we do for next year in Lombard. (We kinda joked at the President's reception that we might bring some Southern Illinois up north for some fun like a Yard Games expo,

Edited out the word "freaking" with respect to Dr. Jessica Kerr and the position of president for the association. Apologies to all who were offended. Thank you for your time and consideration.
